The Serra de Sintra grows its own weather. Atlantic fog rolls over the ridge, soaks the moss and turns the granite dark and grippy — and then you drop out of the cloud into sunlight above the ocean. Twenty minutes away, Monsanto hides fast, dry, pine-lined flow inside Lisbon itself. I ride both of them all year and film almost every lap.
Never mixed with strangers. The route bends to your level, not the other way round.
The good stuff is unmarked, unmapped and half-hidden behind a fern. That's the whole point of a guide.
Motors turn a brutal 900 m climb into a warm-up, so the day is spent descending instead of suffering.
The terrain
The magic forest
UNESCO forest on a granite ridge above the Atlantic. Moss, mist, boulder gardens and root chutes, finishing on trails that spit you out at the ocean. Technical, atmospheric, unlike anywhere else in Europe.
Signature trails
Best in autumn, winter and spring — fog and grip.
Lisbon's green lung
A whole forest park inside the city, laced with fast eucalyptus and pine singletrack, jump lines and steep chutes. Dry when Sintra is soaked, and ten minutes from the centre.

The day
Sintra or Monsanto, morning or golden hour. Coffee first if you want it.
A short warm-up tells me what you're comfortable on, and the day gets built from there.
Motors make the climbs cheap, so we lap the good descents instead of earning one.
I film the ride on GoPro and GoPro Max 2 and send you the stills and clips afterwards. No extra charge.
Tools, tubes, first aid and a plan B if the weather turns.

I've spent years learning which Sintra line is grippy after rain and which one to leave alone, where the fog sits, and how to time a lap so you drop out of the cloud right as the sun hits the ocean. I film it all on the channel.
I ride an UNNO Mith Pro and guide on e-MTB because it turns the climbing into transport and leaves the day for descending. Bring your bike or I'll arrange one.

No. Bring yours if you can — it's always better on your own bike. If not, I'll arrange an e-MTB rental in Sintra or Lisbon; tell me in the booking form and I'll send you the options and price.
Anything from confident-on-a-bike upwards. The route is built around you after a short warm-up, and both forests have easy and brutal versions of the same descent. Complete beginners on technical terrain are the one thing I'd steer away from.
English or Ukrainian — I'm comfortable in both. My Portuguese is basic: enough for the trailhead and the café, not for a long conversation.
Yes, and it costs nothing. I film with GoPro and GoPro Max 2 — the 360 camera catches angles a chest mount can't. You get the stills and clips after the ride and you're free to post them.
Autumn through spring for Sintra — that's when the fog and grip arrive. Summer is hot and dusty but rides fine early or at golden hour, and Monsanto is good all year.
Sintra is often better in the wet — the granite grips and the forest looks unreal. If it's genuinely unsafe we move to Monsanto, shift the time, or reschedule. You're never charged for weather.
Sintra town or a trailhead in the Serra, or the Monsanto park entrance for Lisbon rides. I send the exact pin once the day is confirmed. Pickup from Lisbon or Cascais can be arranged.
Yes — the price covers the first rider and each extra rider is added. Up to about five riders keeps it a proper guided day; bigger than that and I'll bring a second guide.
Cancel or move for free up to 48 hours before. Inside that, we'll find another date. Weather cancellations are always free.
Nothing up front. Booking a slot holds the date; you pay on the day by card, cash or transfer.
